BIO

Djemila was born in the westernmost island of the Canary Islands, La Palma. A place where the trade winds blow all year round towards the warm Caribbean waters. Since she was very young, her biggest dream was to sail across the blue horizon in the direction of the setting sun, straight into the Caribbean beaches. After some dinghy classes and summer sailing camps, Djemila crossed the Atlantic for the first time when she was 18 years old, doing “boat-hitchhiking”. Sailing from Las Palmas to Brazil via Cape Verde, it was a life-changing experience. Some years later, she decided she wanted do it again but solo sailing this time!

After a degree in oceanography, and many travels around the world, Djemila acquired her first Mini 6.50 and started training full time.

Since then, Djemila has become a professional skipper in offshore sailing, based in Lorient La Base, France.
